Snowbirds Get Ready For Winter

Most of my blog so far has been about the California coast, I love the ocean and trees. As winter approaches many so-called snowbirds leave their snowy homestates and travel to the southwest to live the winter in RV's away from the cold. Many of them gravitate to destinations that become "cities" in the winter and meet up with other snowbirds they met last winter. I found a guide that is very informative with lots of info on free camping, back roads, living on less and surviving for pennies on the dollar. check out this link, Click Here!", and enjoy the vast amount of info about southwestern camping, RV'ing and related adventures and hikes.

Now that the weather is changing be sure to pack accordingly. The days can be quite warm and the evenings can be rather chilly. The usual dress code of coastal residents seems to be shorts and sweatshirts. Remember the fog rolls in in the late afternoon and burns off by late morning.

stuff to do in Eureka,Ca

The Zoo in Eureka is "free" (donations accepted) and worth a few hours of your time especially if you have little kids. They have a cute petting zoo with brushes to allow kids to groom the animals as well as a cute interactive barn to show kids where things come from. By all means take a stroll along the waterfront and through oldtown. In the summer there are free concerts that attract all walks of life. A short drive over to Samoa is where beach access is and you can view downdown Eureka from the other side of the Bay.
